About Janet Fluker
I am a wife, daughter, sister and the mother of three adult daughters, one who experiences a developmental disability, and three step-daughters. I have faced many challenges that have taught me compassion for others and the need for supportive relationships to guide and nurture us.
I am also a counselor who has served individuals, couples and families in private practice for the last 20 years. I find fulfillment in guiding the next generation of counselors as a Certified Professional Counseling Supervisor.
I believe emotional healing comes through the power of relationship and I strive to find a safe and supportive space for this healing as I “walk beside” you for a season.
I take a client-centered approach to therapy, starting where you are and working together to meet your goals. I work from an attachment-based model recognizing that we learn how to be in relationship from our families and as adults we bring these patterns to our closest relationships.
I received my Master’s in Counseling from Georgia State University. My professional experience includes teaching, ministry and directing a family program for a drug and alcohol treatment center. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, a researched approach that provides a road map for couples to move from disconnection to positive connection.
My specialties include couples therapy, couples and families facing addiction and early recovery, parenting a special needs child, divorce, women in transition, mood disorders, and spirituality. I enjoy working with a diverse group of people and issues.
